Know about Travel?

Travel is an act of going from one place to another, usually a considerable distance. It is basically a movement of people between distant geographical locations which may be in the same State/ Province or Country or Continent or other Planets or Celestial Bodies.

Though moving from one planet to another planet or from one galaxy to other is not possible at present but it may be possible in future. Sometimes, travel includes short stays between successive movements as one do in tourism sector or going to a very long journey where it become a necessity.

The term ‘Travel’ may have been derived from the French word ‘Travail’ which means ‘work’. People tend to move from one place to other in search of work for sustainability of life. But, have you thought about when it starts? Perhaps don’t.

First Traveller:

About 13.8 billion years ago, when the universe was in “singularity”. It was very hot, small and dense with no stars, atoms or any form. Then the ‘Travel’ starts with “Big Bang”, space expanded and expanded very quickly. Hence, we can say that the energy or particles released from Big Bang were the first travellers or anything that had travelled from one place to another in the Universe.

From the formation of atoms, molecules, compounds which eventually led to the formation of celestial bodies, meteors, dwarf planets, moons, planets, stars and galaxies etc. Whereas the chemistry of life may have begun during a habitable epoch when the universe was only 10–17 million years old. Since then the travel, in the line of life form, begins with the movement and formation of particles, atoms, molecules, unicellular and multi-cellular bodies, micro-organisms, plants, aquatic animals, terrestrial animals etc. which is still going on.

Human Travelling:

But, when we talk about the human civilization, it was started with the movement and groups of hunter-gatherers. They were living in such societies in which most or all food was obtained by foraging i.e relying on food provided by nature through gathering of plants and small animals, birds, and insects; scavenging animals killed by other predators. Hunting and gathering was humanity’s first and most successful adaptation, occupying at least 90 percent of human history.

Hunter-gatherer societies stand in contrast to agricultural societies, which rely mainly on domesticated species. Following the invention of agriculture, hunter-gatherers who did not change have been displaced or conquered by farming or pastoralist groups in most parts of the world.

(Pastoralism is a form of animal husbandry, historically by nomadic people who moved with their herds. The species involved include various herding livestock, including cattle, camels, goats, yaks, llamas, reindeer, horses and sheep.)

Travel in Modern Era:

Now, in today’s world, ‘travel’ is a movement of people between distant geographical locations which can be done by foot, bicycle, bullock cart, automobile, public transport like bus, train, airplane, Helicopter, rockets, space-ships, boat, Cruise, ship or other means. It can be with or without luggage and can be one way or round trip.

Travel in modern times may or may not be easier depending upon the destination and mode/method of travel, time of travel etc. Travel to Mountains including highest peaks of any continent/ country, Rain forest including Amazon rain-forest, Congo rain-forest or Valdivian rain-forest or South East Asian rain-forest, Deserts including Sahara, Gobi, Takla-Makan or Thar. It means extreme tourism or odd destinations of adventure travel are more difficult forms of travel.

 Reasons for Travelling:

Today, there are several reasons for travelling which include recreation, tourism or vacationing. Other forms are research travel, information gathering or Information collection, etc. Visiting to the People, travel for charity, religious pilgrimage, mission trips, business travel and trade are also forms of Travel. Some other reasons like health care or waging or fleeing war or for the enjoyment of traveling or migration to begin life somewhere else also required travelling.
